I assume you guys have seen this site and I don't mean to take anything away from what you're doing, but if something like this could be added as a feature here, that would be sooooo cool. Being able to plop some text on top of a route map to label a location would really work for me. I know I can set a point of interest, but the way things currently work, it can be difficult to associate the text with the map icon.

Thanks, TeamBison. I've looked at their site and they do have some pretty cool stuff. They use the Flash Api of Google Maps. That's something I have not looked into before. I don't know if it offers any extra/better features over the Html/Javascript Api that we and most other sites use.

I'm sure we'll get there some day. But one thing that holds us back now most of the time is backwards compatibility with our existing applications and phone applications. It may not make sense to a user who has an older version of one of our applications why they can create a "Text String" POI object in the map editor, but when they view the trip on their phone, that object doesn't show up.

At any rate, we have just released some changes and enhancements to the map editor and trip view page. I'd be curious to get your feedback. In the map editor, you can now reverse, split, and merge tracks. There is also an option to turn on track point tooltips so you can hover over a track point and see the distance from start and end. On the main trip view page, we changed the layout of how the tracks and POIs are displayed a little bit and added some additional information about each individual track object. Also, a track's turn-by-turn directions is now listed directly under the track that it pertains to.

Check it out and let us know what you think.
