Error Activating:...

Hi,
I did the download and the installation of “Trimble Outdoors the light edition” and the “Trimble Outdoors SE” by Loja OVI NOKIA. But when I try to active the service in my phone, enter my phone number, it not accept and appear that “Error Activating: Please make sure you are in coverage with data service and try again.” My phone is a Nokia 5800 Express Music by TMN – Portugal.
Do you tell me what I have to do?

It could be one of these: 1. APN (Access Point Name) Setting is not configured correctly. 2. Permission is denied for networking in the application.
Can you check those and let me know?

| I have had a similar problem, when I try to activate the software on my phone I have to enter my mobile number and when I do it says the number is registered to another phone, however, if I enter a made up number it accepts it!?! I have have emailed Timble and had a reciept mail but still waiting for an answer! |

Marcus,
This is a different issue, but one we can help you with. That can happen if you uninstall and reinstall. To solve this issue I need to know your phone number, but it only takes a few seconds to fix it. I would suggest that you email support@trimbleoutdoors.com so that you don't need to post it on the forums. Also there is always the possibility that someone else installed using your phone number, but that rarely ever happens.
Also, you should add your phone to your user account (My Account > Phone Applications) If you do that and post back here, I'll be able to see what your phone number is from the back end and can fix it for you.
Let me know what way you go so I can make sure you are taken care of.

Many thanks for your reply.
I have already mailed support and I have had a "read receipt" come back but as yet no response from them. You mention adding my phone to "My Account > Phone Applications", it only asks for my number for which I already have entered.
P.S Which forum should this be on so I cand move this too?

Hi Bob,
I tried to see what is the problem, but I don't discovered. Now, the error activating is "You don't appear to have a valid subscription for Trimble Outdoors with this phone number. If you need any help please contact support at ...."
I tried to add an aplication in my account, but it dont resolve the problem? What I have to do?

Marcus,
Did you try this in the past, around 12/8/2009? I see that someone installed the appplication with your phone number back then. If it was you, let me know and I can clean this up to allow you to activate again, but if it's not please let me know so I can try to get in touch with the user that used this number before do anything that might impact them :-)

Ahh I think I have resolved the problem, I registered my number starting with a 0, I have reentered my number omitting the 0 and it is now showing Applications updated successfully.
Let me have a look and I will give you feed back on my experience.

I don't understand... I saw that you already put in my account, my phone number... Thank you... But My phone doesn't want tis program. Now apeares the both messages..."Error Activating: Please make sure you are in coverage with data service and try again.” or "Error Activating: You don't appear to have a valid subscription for Trimble Outdoors with this phone number. If you need any help please contact support at...”
I don't know if this happened because I change my product code...It have an influence? I have a "3G" net and connection to internet... I phoned for "TMN", my operator and for Nokia, but they told me it's all right.
How do I know if the APN (Access Point Name) Setting is configured correctly? And howw do I do for to know if i have permission for networking in the application?

uhyeh, I've cleared the device ID from the subscription record that was associated with your web account. I did however see that the last time the application was used was yesterday (or today depending on time zone). Did you just switch to a new phone?
Give it a shot. Go through the activation process again on your phone and see if it fixes the problem for you. If not, let me know and we'll try something different. |
