Activation versus Subscription???
Posted: 10 Feb 10 11:58 PM
I just purchased all three Trimble applications (via Handango) for my new BB9700 and did the install and product activation without issues...
At every stage in the product review & purchase I have tried to determine exactly what the "subscription" requirements were - not much is clear to the reader
What I really want is the features of the "Navigate feature in Trimble Outdoors
Specifically, I want to map my 70 acre property and a few things like that
Having data saved in the Google Earth compatible format would be the best outcome
QUESTIONS: Am I on a Trial? - Will I get billed to my AT&T phone account? Will there be three subscription bills?

I apologize for the confusion. With so many different distribution channels each having different requirements and limitations, it can be hard to get a straight answer.

Your purchase through Handango.com, however, is for a monthly subscription. You will be billed by Handango.com on your credit card, not us. Here is a link to Handango's Subscription Policy. I can't tell for sure if you are doing a free trial or not. Did you add the applications to your cart on Handango.com and then go through the checkout process? Or did you simply hit the "Download Trial" button for each application?

While some AT&T BlackBerry phones support direct billing integration with our applications, your model, the 9700 does not.

With the Trimble Outdoors application, you will be able to "create a trip" and mark any point on a map as a point of interest. After a point is marked, you can use the options to navigate back to that point. The application will tell you how far away from the point you are and show you a digital compass to point you in the right direction.

You'd also be able to use the online map editor to create a trip and mark some points on a map ahead of time, then send that trip to your phone.

Any trip that you create online or upload from your phone, you'll be able to view and download that trip in KML format (the format used by Google Earth).

I hope that answers your questions. Let us know if you need any more help. We appreciate the interest and feedback.

Thanks for the very quick reply

I did the Purchase and the Download to the Computer - Followed directions and installed via Blackberry Desktop Manager, then activated each application with the Phone Number, PIN and the Registration string provided on the Handango purchase receipt

Unfortunately, this is NOT wht I had in mind and YES there is a lot of confusion as the Handango site does not provide any information on your product page referencing the Subscription
There is, after purchase, a note on the receipt... but that is also very unclear

All I wanted to do is to "Add Point" and to Save a "Navigate"
Getting a KVL formatted export would be the ideal as it would permit mapping property lines and marking the locations of our trail system
The intent is for basic map making

I have UNSUBSCRIBED to all of the Trimble applications via Handango and will evaluate the refund of the product cost

& Yes, it does work well on the BB 9700

Thanks for your support as a Forum Admin - you were great
As an IT support guy, I understand thankless jobs

kingsleymeyer:

You should be able to mark a waypoint in the Trimble Outdoors application. Just go to the map and select menu>Mark waypoint.

You can then upload it to your web account by selecting "Upload Trip" from the "Online" section of the application. Once on the website you can download it to Google Earth.

You can try this using the trail at www.trimbleoutdoors.com/rim/get if you returned the application. If it gives you any trouble, let me know and we should be able to extend your trial so you can try it out.

Thanks.
