Problem with speed graph

Take a look at the speed graph for this run: http://www.trimbleoutdoors.com/ViewTrip/643838
Now take a look at the speed graph for this run: http://www.trimbleoutdoors.com/ViewTrip/644355
These two are the same run! The first is what you get after uploading from the phone, the second is what you get after exporting and re-importing the same run via a .gpx file.
The speed graph in the first link seems to bear little relationship to my actual run - see how almost all the data points are below the average speed? The second link (the one that went through the .gpx export/import) seems much more in line with my actual run.
This same thing seems to happen with all my runs - the speed graph is wrong. |

| The reason these two graphs look different is because when the trip is uploaded from the phone, the speed data being sent is what was reported by your phone's GPS. When you export and re-import the trip, instead of using GPS speed we recalculate the speed based on delta distance/delta time. Normally the GPS speed is fairly accurate, such that the results for these two cases are very similar. For your trip the two charts are pretty wildly different. When you view your trip on the phone, does the chart look more like the first link or the second? |

The phone-based chart looks just like the phone data (first link).
The speed data from my phone is consistently low like this. Would be nice if you always used delta distance/delta time in the graph. |

| Ok, that's what I expected. Based on the other issue you reported in the resting thread, it seems like your phone GPS is reporting lower than actual speeds. We'll discuss some potential ways of addressing this. Thanks for the feedback. |

WPWoodJr: I see you are using a storm... is this the original Storm or the Storm II, also can you provide us with your OS version? I'd be interested to see what version you are running on and see if we can reproduce the low speed on our device.
Thanks. Bob |

Could you do us a favor and look up some information on your blackberry? We need the Blackberry OS version information, located in the About screen. The information may be found by performing the following: 1. Select the Options icon. On most Blackberry handsets, it is a Wrench Icon. 2. On the "Options" screen, select "About". 3. You should see some version information like v.4.6.1.319(Platform 4.2.0.108).
Could you list that version information here?
Thanks. |
