Uploading trip

A recent trip did not auto upload and when I try to manually upload I get an error message saying that "The trip could not be uploaded." Any ideas?

Can you retry and let me know if you still have issues? I'm hearing that there were some server issues over the weekend, and it might have impacted you. If it doesn't work again let us know and we'll look into it.

Thanks!

Did not have any luck uploading the trip. I went on a road ride this morning and this trip will not unload either. I have manually tried 3 times. Did a a short test trip and it uploaded just fine, but still cannot unload the road ride.

I'm also having a similar problem. I have 3 trips that were recorded outside of cell range and saved locally on my phone (Blackberry 8310). I've tried multiple times over the last 5 days to manually upload but continue to get a "trip could not be uploaded" message. Subsequent trips recorded in cell range successfully uploaded to the site.

Ok, sorry guys. I honestly didn't have a chance to look into this one yet.

Makalu: is this the case for you also? Is it just a few trips that won't upload?

I am also having this problem. For me though, I was able to upload while I was in my trial period but after I paid for the full version I keep getting "Error: Unable to upload trip." I'm also on a Blackberry 8310.

Interesting mrhuberg... so you had been using the trial which was 2.x version, then purchased the 3.x version and it no longer uploads?

Hopefully you are all experiencing the same issue, and not multiple different issues. I'll keep you posted.

The trips that will not upload, were trips outside cell phone coverage. I have not done a trip
within cell range since I purchased the application, so that may be the issue. I will record a ride later this week within cell range and see if it will upload.

My issue with trips failing to upload also started after the trail period. All trips during the trial uploaded just fine. I trialed the 3.0.58 version on a Blackberry 8310.

Quick thought:

Did they upload in 3.0.35, but not in the 3.0.58 update?

The big change between 3.0.35 and 3.0.58 was that the network traffic is now routed through a server at RIM that allows our international users to have reliable networking... maybe this is impacting trips. I am seeing some errors in our logs that look like they could possibly be resulting from this change.

How long are the trips that are failing to upload? Is it possible that shorter trips are uploading OK, but longer trips aren't?

Thanks for your continued help in diagnosing this one.

I have had the same problem two days in a row now, on walks that previously uploaded just fine. I am using a BB 8330 Curve. I have version 2.6.4 on my phone. After several attempts to upload, they finally do, though. The other day I couldn't get it to find the GPS ever, either...Can't figure out how to get the lastest version either. Do I have to pay more? Another thing I noticed is that it is suddenly only tracking parts of my routes, although it gives accurate mileage and time. this has happened the last two days.

beckyff, I believe the problem with the 'tracking parts of your routes' is due to the failed uploads. I do some errors on the server side and we are working on fixing them, but behind the scenes, your trip is uploaded in parts. It looks like one of those parts failed to upload and therefore the track has a long straight line in it. The distance is still correct because it is uploaded as simple meta data.

You can try deleting one of your trips from the web site, like the one you did today that has the long straight vertical line in it and try to reupload it from the phone.

For the GPS on the phone, the next time you notice the problem, try doing a hard reboot of the phone by turning it off and pulling out the battery, then put the battery back in and let it boot up. See how long it takes to acquire the GPS after doing that.

Finally, for the upgrade, we do have a newer version available (completely different UI and everything) on BlackBerry App World. Let me talk to my boss about it for you and I'll get back to you tomorrow.

Thanks, Kevin. I re-uploaded them and it worked fine. Makes sense that both the trips that look funny on the map are the ones that duidn't upload correctly.

I'm pretty sure the trial version was also 3.0.58. If the trial version was 3.0.35, then yes.
I did not have any upload problems during the trial.

Length of trips that have failed to upload are: 1:05:53, 1:41:33, and 1:59:23.
I did a couple 3-5 minute test trips and they uploaded just fine.
A portion of the 2 longer trips were outside cell phone coverage, the shortest trip
was completely within cell phone coverage.

Thanks, Greg

Thanks Greg...

On AppWorld, when you decide to buy, you can actually use the same version without downloading an update, you just have to enter a license key. ...But... there was also a new version released right around the time your trial would have been ending, so I'm thinking maybe you updated between when you tried, and when you paid.

I can see that you ran 3.0.35 last on 3/13/2010 3:55:38 PM, and then started running 3.0.58, which seems to match when you posted here first pretty closely.

Can I provide you a link back to the 3.0.35 version, and have you give it a quick test? If they upload in the 3.0.35 version then we will know that it has to do with this change that we introduced and we can fix it in the next update that will be coming in the next month or two.

Thanks.
Bob

Hi Bob,

Go ahead and send the link to the 3.0.35 version and I will give it a try.

Thanks for your help.

Try this out... you'll need to re-enter your unlock code (which should still be listed in "My World" in app world.

url: http://tinyurl.com/bobpub
Select "AllSport GPS for BlackBerry App World"
Select "old"
Select "3.0.36-highres"
Select "gpsapp.jad"

Download it and enter your unlock code, and let me know if uploads start working for you.

Thanks.

I just tried the 3.0.36 version on my 8310. A 16 mile trip and a 24 mile trip uploaded fine, but trips of 38,45 and 50 miles would not upload.

I am having exactly the same issue - no problems when using the trial but now i have upgraded to the full version i cannot upload a damn thing. Same error message as mrhuberg. Whats really annoying is i did a 80 mile ride yesterday around 5hrs of data which won't upload - this was the main reason for buying this app!!

I am using a Blackberry 8900 Curve - AllSport GPS V3.0.57

Would really appreciate some help resolving this issue, thanks in advance.

Guys,

Are these long trips that are failing to upload? I will suggest the same thing as above, try the older version and let me know if it works there. We are planing to release a version to fix this issue, but I'd love to verify that the 3.0.3x version works better for you guys also.

url: http://tinyurl.com/bobpub
Select "AllSport GPS for BlackBerry App World"
Select "old"
Select "3.0.36-highres"
Select "gpsapp.jad"

Let me know,
Bob

I haven't tried an older version but I can confirm the same issue. Two 8 mile trips uploaded fine...Two 12 mile trips won't upload. I'm using a newly purchased 3.0.58 version on a BB 8310.
Thanks
Mike

Hi Bob, none of the trips are working since i upgraded.

I've just reinstalled the app (3.0.36) as per the link provided in your post - tried uploading the same 80 mile trip with the same results - Error: The trip could not be uploaded.

Hope this helps?

Jason.

I downgraded to the older version and uploading works now. I had "upload failed" error uploading a long 4 hr mtb ride that was recorded in the newer version, but when I went online, it was there.

Newer version troubleshooting info:
When on the newer version I was having the problem with both long rides and short walks. 45 minute runs always seemed to upload ok. I think it may be the amount of GPS data. If I deleted the gps data from one that would not upload, it uploaded no problem.

Re: Uploading trip

Quick update on my situation...I went back and installed the 3.0.36 version on my 8310, I tried to upload all of the longer trips that were saved locally multiple times and kept getting the same error message "Error: The trip could not be uploaded." So, I figured they weren't uploading. I logged into trimbleoutdoors.com and went to my trips and they were all there...Each trip uploaded 3 and 4 different times.
So, version 3.0.36 will upload longer trips of 42, 50 and 62 miles with no problem but my 8310 still gives me that damn error message.
Please fix this issue, as I have never been so disappointed with any app as I am right now with this waste of money.
The trial worked great for me and you fooled me into purchasing a full version that is useless. At this point, only a full refund would satisfy me.
