| I just saw that you released a new version for the iPhone. Where can I read about the updates? I am particularly interested in the new distance notification functionality. |

Hi Travis, we are currently updating our product information on the web site and will make proper announcements shortly, but this is what's new in the latest version (1.4): * Training programs * Audio cues * Skating/Rollerblading activity support * Tips, news and reviews from BICYCLING and BACKPACKER Magazine delivered within the app I am not sure what you mean by "distance notification functionality". Where did you find this term? Thanks, Andrei

Sorry Andrei, I was referring to the new 'audio cues'. What does tht mean? Will it call out miles as they are passsed? Is it something I need to enable/disable?
Thanks, Travis |

Hi Travis, Audio Cues will sound an audio alert after a certain time or distance based upon a fixed set of programs. At the moment, we are providing these programs: - Mile (kilometer) splits: sound alert every mile (kilometer), start new lap every mile (kilometer) - 8 min/1 min: run for 8 minutes, sound an alert, walk for 1 minute, sound an alert, repeat indefinitely - 5 min/1 min: run for 5 minutes, sound an alert, walk for 1 minute, sound an alert, repeat indefinitely. Does this answer your question and what do you think about these new features? Thanks!

| I ran today with the latest software update installed. I did not hear any audio cues. I was playing music. Does that matter? Where can I access these "programs"? |

Travis, You can activate these programs by selecting the the icon in the upper right corner of the screen, right next to the lock icon, when you are recording an activity. When you have either the 5min/1min or 8min/1min splits turned "ON" the phone will vibrate or buzz for every split that it records. It does NOT matter if you have music running or not, the phone will buzz or vibrate either way. I hope this clears things up a little. Please respond if you are still having issues.
Thanks,
Michael |

| That is extremely helpful. Will the splits be recorded and displayed on the map? |

Splits for the KM and Mile splits will be shown as Laps. When you upload the trip to your web account you will see the lap data shown on the right hand side of the screen. You can change between laps to view the data on each one. On the iPhone itself you can change the items shown to you while recording (EX: Distance, Time, Speed, etc..) to Previous Lap Time, Current Lap Time, Last Lap Average Pace, etc... any one that has "Lap" in it. This will allow you to view the lap data directly from your phone. The 5min/1min and 8min/1min splits will NOT be shown as Lap data. They will just give you the buzz or vibrate to let you know when they come up. Please feel free to post any suggestions on how you would like to see these particular programs function.
Thanks,
Michael |

| I have been using the mile split function for a couple weeks now and it is a really nice enhancement! Here are some comments for you. I always listen to music and I have yet to hear an audio cue when I hit a mile mark. I think the phone may buzz but its hard to tell since I wear it in an armband. Can you make the audio cue at the miles/laps play a small chime over the music? Also, when I view the results online the elevation and speed maps only display per lap. Seeing the graphs by lap is nice, and it would also be nice to view the entire trip as an option as well. I know I can view the trip graphs on the phone but it is nice to have it on the web as well. Lastly, can you place mile marker (end of lap) indicators on the map so I can see precisely where the miles are? |

These are some great suggestions! I will put all of these on our "feature request list" and they may be put into a future update of the application. Keep the feedback and suggestions coming! We love to hear from users how the app is working and what features they would like to see in the future.
Thanks again!

I am using both allsport and runkeeper to clock my workouts. I like allsport much more than runkeeper because it uses less battery when gpsing and you can access music from within the app. There is one thing in runkeeper that I would recommend allsport include. 1. Voice cues. Such as a voice telling you the quarter mile, half mile, or mile splits and your pace. This is very useful for keeping ones pace and for interval workouts. If these could lower the volume of the music and then reraise it after the cue it would be great.
Otherwise I love the app. |

G Benna: Thanks for the suggestion.
One quick note. If you select the stop watch in the top right while recording a workout, you can set it up to beep at you every mile/kilometer, or based on 5:1 or 8:1 splits. It's not voice cues, but it gets me what I need while running.

I have tried this and I don't hear the beep over the music. Also it would be nice to know your pace at the splits. And the ablility to choose the length of the splits from 1/4 to 1 mile would be great.
Thanks for the quick response. |

Great feedback.
If we added configurable splits, and increased the volume of the notification would that get you most of the way to what you need?
Thanks. Bob |

| Bob, having an audible cue would be extremely helpful. As michaelmtb mentions above, the phone only vibrates to indicate reaching the mile split. |

| Configurable splits and increased volume or ducking would be great, but I still think having a voice announce the distance and time splits would be great. That way I could know my pace. I am not going to look at my iphone every time there is a split to see what my pace is. It would be much better to have it announced to me. Would these things be real difficult. I have no idea. |

Thank you,
Now I have another problem. When using allsport iphone, it does a great job tracking my distance when it is not asleep. However when the power button on the top is hit to lock the screen something happens and when I've only gone 2 miles it will say I've gone like 23000 miles. When you look at the map it shows me runnig all over the place. Any ideas. |

| I didn't know about that behavior, is this reproducible? If so, I'll talk to the guys and see what we can do... |

I took a look at this as well and at this time was not able to see this behavior in my own training exercises. What would be helpful is the following, could you share one of these errant trips so we can analyze the data on our end and determine what may have happened?
We really do appreciate you working with us and sharing your experience. Let's see if we can collectively get to the bottom of this.
Thanks,

| Ok, Here goes. I am using a ipod touch 2nd gen. running 3.1.2 and an ipod touch 3g using 3.1.3. Both are connected to an orangegadget i360gps which is a gps receiver. Both touches have been modified JB and gpsserial installed to communicate with the receiver. If you wish to go no further I understand however there is now a sanctioned gps receiver for the ipod touch. Anyway when using the 2g on 3.1.2 and running allsport 1.4.1 I can start the activity, lock the screen and when I go back on the milage is precise. However when using the 3g running 3.1.3 and running allsport 1.4.1. I start the activity and it works fine, but as soon as I lock the screen by pressing the power button on the top/left of the ipod touch and then make it visible again the tracking has gone haywire. As I said a three mile run become a 20000 mile run. It doesn't matter if I use run, walk, car, or bike it does the same thing on the 3g. I don't know if on the 3g they reconfigured the screen lock or not. I am uploading an activity that shows this behavior so you can see it. For now I will just create a cap that keeps the power button from being pushed. |

I am not sure that I an do much when it comes to supporting anything on an iPod touch as the application is not intended for that device. You do mention a 3G device, I am assuming you mean an iPhone 3G, is this correct?
Also, if there is a sanctioned GPS device, I would be interested in learning more about it. Could you provide the name or manufacturer?

Larry,
I mean the ipod toudh 3gen running software 3.1.3. This is the one that messes up when the screen lock is turned on. The ipod touch 2 gen running 3.1.2 doesn't mess up. The new legit gps receiver for the touch is made by dual electronics it is a gps cradle for the ipod touch. You can look it up on line. I can only think that apple changed something in the 3gen ipod touch maybe in the screen lock power saving or something. |

FYI,
We have not forgotten about this screen lock issue. Although we have not technically supported the touch as of to date. If there is a viable solution I will see that it is explored. I am speculating at this time that possibly the GPS gets shut down or put into a different state when the lock is pressed. Without all the pieces, it is hard to verify. I will acquire one of these devices and let the tech guys figure out what is going on.
