BB Bold 9700

I have happily used the Allsport GPS application on my BB Bold 9000 for several months. I recently upgraded to the Bold 9700 and now I cannot download from the BB App Store because App World says my phone is not supported.
How can I use this application on my new phone? |

We don't officially support the Bold 9700, so we can't guarantee that everything will look and work correctly. However, we can have you download a trial version from:
http://www.trimbleoutdoors.com/RIM/get/9000/allsport.jad
and we will update it so it's as if you purchased it. That should be the most compatible build we have. You must point your BlackBerry browser directly to that full Url in order to get that build.
After you install it, launch it and enter the same phone number you used the first time. (If you don't remember the phone number, you can find it on your My Account -> Phone Applications page here on the website.)
That should do it. If you have any trouble, let us know. Include your new BlackBerry's device PIN for trouble shooting. (The easiest way to get your BlackBerry PIN is to start composing an email, leave the To and Subject fields blank, and in the body start typing "mypin: ", make sure there is a space after the colon.) |

Kevin, I too have used AllSport GPS (but with Curve) and now am upgrading to a 9700. I am slos thinking of upgrading my personal phone to a iPhone... (no need to hassle me about that, my wife already has...). My question is this... which device should I move my AllSport GPS over to? Any thoughts on which is better? |

I've never used the BB Bold 9700 before, but it appears to be very similar to all the hi-resolution models. I have used our application on the iPhone, and having the big screen is nice. The iPhone version has a different UI (so that it looks and acts like you would expect an iPhone application to). The bigger screen is nice for things like biking, if you buy a handle bar mount.
I don't know when a build for the BB Bold 9700 will be released, so if time is of the essence, then there is really only one option.
It looks like you currently bought the application from Handmark. We wouldn't be able to "transfer" the purchase, and you wouldn't want to either. Handmark only offers subscription based sales, iPhone does not. So it's a one time purchase through iTunes. You would just have to cancel your subscription with Handmark, which looks like it is up for renewal on March 4, 2010. All your trips however, that you've uploaded to our server, will be available to view and download to your new phone if you'd like, regardless of what phone you choose.
You can check back again towards the end of February for phone availability if you can wait that long.
Sorry I couldn't be much more help. We appreciate your interest and feedback. |

I downloaded the trial to my 9700 yesterday and it seems to be working fine.

Kevin I have used up my trial version on my BB9700 (worked great). As this is a work phone and the bill goes to my comapany... how do I renew my license? Thru Handmark again? Can you have more than one device enabled in your profile? Such as a BB and a iPhone (purchasing both of course...)? Thanks, Troy |

Troy, I believe we do have the application now available on BlackBerry App World for the 9700.
http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/139
Do you have the BlackBerry App World application on your device? Do you have a PayPal account? If so, it's a one time purchase and it will not be billed to your work.
It's a new 3.x version, so it's a bit different from what you have. Unfortunately, that version has not been released to Handmark yet.
You can have multiple applications and phones tied to your same web site account. It was a little messy with the 2.x version because you had to enter a phone number, but with the 3.x version and the iPhone version, you simply "log in" to the phone application with the same username/password that you have here on the web site. You can even have multiple people use the same application on the same phone and be able to keep the trips/workouts separate by using two different web accounts.
Let me know about BlackBerry App World, if you can do it or not. Otherwise, we'll have to think of something else. |
