First, from the main menu of your phone, go to GPS, and from there select Privacy.
A. On your phone, check Settings -> Display/Info -> Clock to make sure that your year is set correctly. If not, this can have an unpredictable behavior on the timezone. The date of year and time of day are set automatically from the cell towers.
Sprint Phone Related FAQsA. Some flip phones show the workout statistics in the external display when the phone is running. Different phones scroll in different ways. Refer to your phones' User Guide.
A. Unfortunately, some Sprint phones do not allow Java apps to run when the flip is closed. The new are phones do allow this capability, and they display your workout statistics in the external display: MM-5600, MM-7400, MM-8300, MM-A800, MM-A880.
Trimble Outdoors Phone Application FAQs
A. If none of the other FAQ hints help - exit TrimbleOutdoors on your phone, and exit to the main screen. Click "menu", then "more" and select GPS. Scroll to and select "Privacy" and insure that "Restricted" is NOT selected. This would prevent Trimble Outdoors from acquiring GPS position.
A. The first time you capture audio or take a photo, you will be prompted to give the application permission to capture media. You should grant the permission and set to "Always". This will prevent the prompt from coming up in the future. The first audio capture will always fail, even though you grant it permission, but the next one will succeed if you set the permission to "Always". Additionally, the phone needs to be in ring mode in order to capture audio. Setting it to "VibeAll" mode will prevent audio capture from working. Finally, on the i605 with release 2.1 of the software, audio waypoints will not work due to a 605 firmware bug.
A. The Blackberry operating system occasionally leaks connections (fails to close them when they are no longer in use). Once enough unused connections accumulate, the device cannot open another and the error message results. The solution is to power off the device, remove the battery, replace the battery and then restart. All open connections will be removed and a map can be retrieved.
A. Trimble Outdoors can work with either a public or a private IP address on your phone.
A. This condition can be corrected by exiting and then restarting the application.
A. Nextel has an array of accessories at Nextel retail stores including extended life batteries and car chargers that add battery life and charging convenience.
A. The new version of our phone software allows you to load map tiles from the field. On the map page, press the manu key to start the process. A. Yes, the GPS capability in the phone operates when outside of network coverage. Trip information collected when out of network coverage, such as photos, points-of-interest, and trip notes, are stored on the phone until you are back in network coverage and choose to upload the information.
A. Battery life may be extended by enabling the "Track When Closed" option (select Setup, Settings, Track When Closed, Enabled). "Track When Closed" allows the user to extend battery life by closing the phone and continuing to track position. This typically results 6 to 12 hours of outdoor usage where the user is checking position every half hour.
A. The average picture is 15-30 KB and varies based on the resolution and quality of the picture taken. Trimble Outdoors Platinum plan has 500 KB of data allowing around 20 photos per month. Trimble Outdoors Platinum Unbundled allows much larger Total Connection plans to be purchased seperately from Nextel.

A. Yes, the photos will have location the GPS (lat/long), altitude, and time. The user can enter additional comments such as photo annotations or captions which can be viewed in the Adventure Planner. The photos will also be plotted on a map so the trip can be shared with friends and family.
A. When you first start planning your trip select "Share" option, which means anyone who goes to www.trimbleoutdoors.com can view the trip. You can also change your "Share" setting on any of your trips by selecting Trip - Trip Properties.

BlackBerry Specific FAQs
A. This error message comes from the blackberry Operating System, and we relay the error message back to you. Usually it means that the network request timed out while trying to open a network connection. This is sometimes caused by poor data coverage. Try to find a place where your data coverage is good and try again.
It has been reported that the 8800 will sometimes get into a state where this happens on every attempt to use the network. When this has happened, it has been resolved by pulling the battery and trying again. Adventure Planner FAQs
A. The size of each map tile can be defined by the user based on map zoom level.
A. When using the Serial Import/Export function to transfer data between a GPS unit and the Adventure Planner two steps are taken. The first step transfers routes. The second step transfers individual waypoints(POIs). After the first step is completed your GPS unit may display "transfer completed". That message only indicates that the first step is completed. The Adventure Planner will indicate when both steps are completed.
