This ride starts and ends at McKenzie Park on Fremont Ave in Los Altos.

As you head north from the start of the ride, the route snakes its way through tree covered canopies, slowly gaining altitude until finally arriving at some wonderful this the points near the north end of the course.  From there, it's a quick and easy descent to the Canyon Inn, a great burger joint and a perfect place for lunch.  After lunch, head back to the start via two of the most popular biking roads in the bay area: Alameda de las Pulgas and Foothill Expressway.

All of the main roads on this ride have nice shoulders or bike lanes.  Although most of the back roads are residential and get little auto traffic, they also tend to be rather narrow, so be considerate when cars appear and make room for them when needed.

This route is hilly, but does not have any long or strenuous climbs.  It's just the right distance and difficulty level to carry on a conversation with your buddies while still working up enough appetite for a burger at the Canyon Inn.
