DIRECTIONS: From Bozeman, take S. 19th Street South to Hyalite Canyon Road. Left on Hyalite Canyon Road and continue until the Blackmore Recreation Site, on the Northwest shore of Hyalite Reservoir.

A gradual climb under the covering of Fir, Pine and Spruce trees, past Blackmore Lake, through open meadows, along summit ridges with awesome views of the surrounding mountain peaks.

The trailhead is located in the southwest portion of the parking area, on the West bank of Hyalite Reservoir. Take the Blackmore Trail #423 towards Blackmore Lake and on to Mount Blackmore.

Continue straight on the Blackmore Trail. Left is the West Shore Trail #431. The trail will parallel Blackmore Creek the majority of the way towards the summit.

Continue straight on the trail. Left is the trail to Crescent Lake. The trail continues to gradually climb towards Blackmore Lake under the covering of trees.

Continue straight on Blackmore Trail. Right is Water Creek trail. The trail now leaves the covering of trees and travels through open meadows in the bowl of Mount Blackmore.

The trail now proceeds up a few very long switchbacks to the saddle between Elephant Mountain and Mount Blackmore. Great views of the valley below.

Continue straight on the saddle.Left is the Cottonwood Creek trail. Mount Blakckmore can be seen ahead. The trail will travel behind the ridge, losing site of the summit, then reappear in front of Mount Blackmore for the final push to the summit. Elephant Mountain can be seen to the Southeast.
