Another Park-N-Grab.
This one should be pretty easy for you to find if you are passing through and you should be able to get a quick find and help boost your finds for the day by one. You can also get some of that precious (almost unaffordable) liquid that makes your car go, get a bite to eat, get some of that precious liquid that makes your body go, or just read a book.
I didn't have a stubby pencil so you will have to bring your own pen to sign the log....

A Forest In The Highways by Doc Gilbo
Location: 30.048530, -94.144870
Mother Nature continues to go wild. Magical things continue to happen in isolated areas and here, as the name of the cache implies, you will see a forest in the highways.
Magic is needed to derive the clues to the bonus cache, so look for a sandwhich size container. Inside will be an Ancient drawing of some magic squares.
Follow the directions on how to use these Magic squares.
You may want to copy the magic squares from the image below in case they are missing from the cache.

Another in the Barbra Streisand song series (her first song on television), this micro cache is about as big as a soda can, but shorter and covered in camo tape.
Be discreet in searching for this cache as there may be onlookers here. The cache is very easy to find. Let the kiddies do this one! This is the cache for those of you that don't like long hikes on wooded trails, high grass and tons of mosquitoes! (Although the latter isn't guaranteed after a heavy rain - this is afterall, Southeast Texas!)

It looks like a flood happened and everything floated to the top. The terrain is fine yet it is very 'deadly' at the same time.
There is a very long and interesting history that surrounds this place. That goes back to the sad days of segregation. It is interesting though, that as historic as this place is, it is still being used today. Hope this is fun for ya'll. Let me know what you think this is my first hide.

Baby's First Wisdom Book by Rottpup05 and Rottman78

First stage small Film canister and Second stage small Tupperware container!!!
When this cache becomes active, I'll be here!!!
The first stage is a film canister hidden at the base of a tree, inside you'll find the cordinates to the final which is a tupperware container with blue footprint ribbon and a bow on it!!!
My daddy, HitmanFO, and Chan man actually hid this cache for me, because I'm actually not here yet, they are waiting on my arrival!!! My daddy had this great idea for this cache and thought it would be fun to share our excitement with his cacher friends. There are no need for trades because all that is required is that when you sign the log, please leave me a note of wisdom, for me to grow up by. This cache is a quick and easy multi cache that will only take no more than thirty minutes to complete. After this container is empty Me and dad will replace it and change out the log book, because he will be putting this log of wisdom up for me until I am old enough to keep it myself.

Location: 30.499270, -94.117380
Here is a two stage multi that is placed out in the backwoods and can be a doozie to get to at times. Once you get close, finding both stages should be a snap since there is not much hiking involved
Driving to the area is normally fairly easy, however, if it has rained in the past few days the road will be muddy but passable by most vehicles. If its rained a bunch then said road can go under water. This area does get muddy at times, you'll most likely see poison ivy, possibly swat at skeeters, and probably encounter other outdoorsy critters such as spiders and snakes! Watch what you're doing and you'll be fine...The first stage is small and consists of coordinates which lead you to the final. Final is housed in a somewhat smallish container so keep that in mind when wanting to trade items. Dont forget to sign the logbook at the cache and also log your find here at www.Geocaching.com. Hope that you enjoy!!!
The hints below will make this one pretty easy. Dont read unless you are stumped!

Beaver Slide,,, Four Cache Mini Loop by Mudfrog and Chicken
Location: 30.575950, -94.642330
We enjoyed finding the Four Cache Loop cache put out by Ty Dolney, so decided to put out our own smaller version.
This little trail loop is approximately 1.3 miles in length and is easy to follow. Most of the time it shouldnt be too difficult, but it does look like the area may have standing water or even flood during heavy rains. Remember that this is a woodsy area and has the usual clientele of mosquitos, snakes and various other varmints. Did see the biggest Copperhead that ive ever seen, so do watch your step! While you are here, be sure to check out the carvings left behind from some of the inhabitants of the area.
Like Ty's, this has four stages. The first three are small camoflaged containers and have coordinates inside that take you to the next stage. The fourth is the main cache that houses lots of geocache trinkets. Dont forget to log your find in the logbook and here at GeoCaching.com.
We hope that you enjoy this beautiful area and have fun finding our cache!

Those of you who completed our Road To Nowhere night cache know how easy we like to make it for fellow cachers. I mean, who else would put out a Park-N-Grab night cache?
With that in mind, here's our next in the series. This one should be even easier, especially since it's not a night cache, so there's no need to wait for nightfall. Even better, the cache is a mere quarter-mile from the parking spot. You'll be traversing an arrow-straight course. What could be simpler?
You'll be looking for a camouflaged Nalgene bottle. If you'd like to trade, think small. Bring your own pen to sign the log.
By the way, be sure to read the gc.com disclaimer before venturing out for this one. Be sure to bring a well-honed sense of balance. Most importantly, be sure to leave the children and the dogs behind on this one. You have been warned...

Cache Across The Crick by Chance Encounter
Location: 30.305480, -94.197470
No big deal here. Just your average terrain level five cache. You'll find it directly across the creek from a nice sandbar, thus the catchy title.
You will need a canoe, kayak or boat to reach the cache container, which is hidden along Village Creek. Your best bet for launching is at Baby Galvez Landing, floating down towards the US-96 bridge.
Nothing special once you reach the cache. A bit of a climb, then sign the the logscroll. Nothing at all to get excited about.

Location: 30.263050, -94.162530
A most beautiful area, lots of wildlife, and a nice two mile roundtrip hike. Thought this would be an ideal spot for another cache in Village Creek State Park.
This one is pretty straight forward and should be relatively easy to find,,, most of the time! The trails do have some low water crossings, some slight elevation changes, and may even be impassable if the creek floods. Might want to check with the park if you are coming in from out of town to make sure the trail is indeed open. Also, dont forget that there is a small entry fee to get into the park...You'll be looking for the typical ammo can filled with the usual assortment of goodies. You may have allready seen, maybe even found, the first cache we put out that is similar in name. Of course that one is easy to find and doesnt require any special equipment to get to. Well, this one certainly aint like that!
Terrain will be easier for some and definitely harder for others. Adventure is what you'll be after on this so dont let the the fact that this is a microcache deter you from going after it. This is a nice little trip so prepare accordingly by bringing the usual assortment of supplies, food, and water. Also, watch your step and keep your eyes opened for any wild critters that may inhabit the area. As always, please sign the logscroll at the cache and also log your find here at Geocaching.com.
Oh and be sure to check out the other two nearby "Crick" caches while you're out. They arent too far from here but do share the same terrain difficulty rating! We'll just leave you with this,, Goodluck!!!

Collier's Ferry by Chance Encounter
Location: 30.128750, -94.093350
Collier's Ferry once served as the main Neches River crossing on the Old Jasper Road, and as an alternate route for the Opelousas Trail from Liberty through Beaumont to Louisiana. Used as early as 1750, the route followed old Indian traces and served as a highway for explorers, settlers, priests, soldiers and traders from Spain, France and Anglo-America.
The ferry's most important use was as an alternate crossing on the famous Opelousas Trail from the 1820s to 1900. Huge herds often came this way to bypass the muddy streets of downtown Beaumont. Although others ran it at different periods of its 1831 to 1950 career, the ferry took its name from the John Collier family, who operated it for fifty years.
Those who completed my Leapin' Lizards or Beaumont City Parks Tour caches will be familiar with Collier's Ferry Park. And the handful of folks who finished The Legendary Race will recognize the container. You'll be looking for a one-gallon Rubbermaid, camouflaged and holding a few trade items. Have

It's amazing that we can find the detritus of "human advancment" in the strangest of places. Case in point: the above coordinates. Although they look like puzzle-type dummy coordinates, they really will lead you directly to the cache container. But what's all that stuff jumbled up willy-nilly? How did it get there? And what strange creatures inhabit the nooks and crannies?
We can't provide the answers to such deep questions, but we can confirm that you'll be looking for a camouflaged Lock&Lock holding a few trade items. You're on your own when it comes to parking. You'll also have to find your way past the most obvious obstacle, although the solution may be one you'd rather not believe.
Beyond that first critical point, the only trouble will be in watching where you step, bovinely speaking. And as you approach the cache site be careful lest you twist an ankle or surprise a slithering serpent (try saying THAT five times real fast). Have fun!

Cormorants -- or water turkey in local lingo -- are a common sight in Southeast Texas. But to see a large colony remains something of a rarity. If you hit this cache in the middle of the day, however, you'll see a couple hundred Neotropic Cormorants and Anhinga nestled in the trees, along with some Snowy Egret, Great Egret, Tri-Colored Heron and White Ibis. Come near dusk, however, and you could spot several hundred or a thousand of each species, literally blanketing the trees. From late March to early June you'll also catch sight of the newborn fledglings peeking out of their nests.

Location: 30.333030, -94.206720
When Doc Gilbo and I recently set out to hide some new caches along Village Creek, this is where we first realized we were crippled. It's never a good idea to go upstream in a flat-bottom jon boat with an old, worn out trolling motor. Especially when fighting against a current approaching 3mph. Did we mention the logjams? But then again, when have we ever been known for doing things the easy way?
As the terrain rating would suggest, you will need some form of waterborne transportation. This is indeed an island; trust the topo maps that say it's not at your own (considerable) risk!
Your best bet is to launch at the SH-327 bridge and float downstream to Baby Galvez Landing. Or you can try doing it backwards like we did. Lots of luck...

The purpose of this cache is to pay tribute to an american icon that has long since vanished from our lives. The Drive-In Theatre!!!! Modern media inventions such as television, VCRs, Dvds, and multimovieplexes have proved to be the demise of drive-ins.
The Golden Triangle once boasted of eight drive-ins scattered throughout the area. The listed coordinates mark the site of The Pyramid Drive-In which is now part of Lamar University Stadium. Other nearby drive-ins include: The MacArthur Drive-in in Orange; The Surf Drive-in and Don's Drive-in located in Port Arthur; Showtown USA, South Park, The Circle, and Spindletop Drive-ins were in Beaumont; and The New Moon Drive-in was found in Lake Charles.
Many of us old timers have fond memories of times spent at the drive-in. People didn't go just to take in the latest "B" class double feature. It was a social event, a place to see and be seen and sometimes, during intermission, the food wasn't too bad.

It's either the first or last cache in Texas depending on if you're coming into or leaving Texas. The area is usually easy to get to. A bit swampy the last 10-15 feet. But if there has been some recent heavy rains it may be a lot of water to wade through.
There are a couple of hiding places that will instantly catch your eye. BUT BE FORWARNED one spot is protected by killer ants that will attack those cachers who are unfortunate enough to forget those killer ants are there.
The presence of those creatures do seem to "up" the Stakes. Kind of like "Lets Make A Deal" Is it behind Tree #1, #2, or #3? (the ant-house is the awe-shucks prize). But this is a small price to pay for finding the "First and/or Last Cache in Texas"

This marks the second monthly meeting of Beaumont-area geocachers, and will provide an excellent opportunity for all the long-time cachers to meet up with the newcomers. Most times, we won't really have a set agenda; we'll just sit around for a couple of hours "Shootin' The Breeze in Beaumont." We'll host a new event on the first Monday of each month, from 7PM-9PM, so mark your calendars now.
After the high noise levels and less-than-satisfactory service we encountered at the Log-On Cafe, we have moved the event to Beaumont's Cracker Barrel. General Manager Evelyn Mexas assures us that we'll have our own group area with at least two members of the waitstaff assigned to us. If you have kids, they'll have a blast exploring all the goodies in the adjacent Old Country Store. If you'd like to eat, you can choose from a large variety of reasonably-priced selections from both the Breakfast and Dinner menus, or check the Sampler Menu.

Some of you may want to enjoy the hike finding the 3 stages of the cache and others may want to find these the even easier way. As suggested by the five star terrain level, you will need a boat, canoe, kayak, or other form of waterborne transportation to reach the cache. If you're very adventursome you might even make it on an inner tube, but we wouldn't recommend it.
If you have a canoe, a kayak, or a small boat that's light enough to carry a short distance, your best bet for free launching is under the I-10 bridge, N 30° 05.666 W 94° 05.542. This is on the west (Beaumont) side of the Neches River near the Beaumont Yacht Club. You might even try the Yacht Club itself if you can afford the steep $10 non-member launching fee. Or you could try putting in directly across the river on the Orange County side (also free).
If you have a boat and motor, the nearest free boat ramp to the north is at Collier's Ferry Park near N 30° 07.954 W 94° 05.800. From the south, try the boat launch at Port Neches Park n

Once in the general area of the cache, there are some thorn bushes nearby, but they can be easily avoided by taking a path more to the right.

I-10's First and Last cache in Louisiana by Doc Gilbo
Location: 30.128870, -93.697220
This can be the first and / or last cache in Louisiana via I-10. Depending on where you're headed. This is basically a copy of my Texas cache. But I like LA so much, that I had to hide one here.
A couple of days after some heavy rains, the area is relatively dry. It's hid high enough to avoid being washed away by floods, and is not hard to get to. I wanted to make it easy for ya.
There is an over pass in Venton about a couple of miles from there. I mention this because you may need to make a big circle.
This cache is a camoflaged film canister. Bring your own pen. Be careful at night, once you get off the road, the water is upon you pretty quickly.

Illuminati by Chance Encounter
Location: 30.130900, -94.158880
May 1, 1776, proved to be the most important date in Freemasonry's Luciferic New World Order Plans. On that date an obscure Jesuit-trained professor of canon law at the University of Ingolstadt in Bavaria, Adam Weishaupt, founded a secret society called the Ancient and Illuminated Seers of Bavaria. Illuminati was based on a mixture of Masonic secrets (Luciferic Doctrine), Islamic Mysticism (Sufism), and Jesuit mental discipline (Hatha Yoga). A unique and dangerous element of the order -- its scientific use of the drug hashish to produce an "illuminated" state of mind -- evolved from the Knights Templar's association with the Order of the Assassins (circa 1050 AD).
Illumination had long been a cherished component of Masonry and other occult groups. The Masonic candidate requests, and is promised, "light in Masonry." As he goes up the ladder of initiation, he receives "more light". It is because of the society's emphasis on illumination that the Ancient and Illuminated Seers of Bavafria became known by its

Prater Cemetery by Chance Encounter
Location: 30.125030, -94.151470
Unlike many other towns in East and Southeast Texas, Beaumont is not known for small, hidden cemeteries. Sure, we have a couple of mega-sites like Magnolia and Forest Lawn, but it's hard to find an example of the old family cemetery so common in other parts of the state.
Prater Cemetery is one of the few exceptions. Tucked away alongside the bustling development of the Eastex Freeway corridor, you'll find a handful of gravestones dating back more than a century, including three Civil War veterans.
Pause a few moments to pay your respects. Then you'll be looking for a camouflaged Nalgene bottle, holding a few small trinkets. Bring your own pen to sign the log.

Sabine-Neches Waterway by Chance Encounter and BizzyB
Location: 29.877700, -93.925520
Although initially begun in 1895, the Sabine-Neches Waterway would not reach its northern terminus at Beaumont until 1916. Before that, however, Port Arthur residents, having witnessed the devastating effects of the 1906 hurricane in Galveston, saw the need to protect their town from similar ravages. A seawall seemed the only logical choice. Today, huge granite stones line both sides of the waterway for miles, and on the Port Arthur side a series of long levies and concrete retaining walls keeps the waters of Sabine Lake at a safe distance.
At the listed coordinates you'll find a log-only micro. Bring your own pen, and be sure to replace the container in its hiding spot. You should be able to read every satellite in the sky, so accuracy will not be a problem. Enjoy the scenery!

Sandyland Redux by Chance Encounter
Location: 30.367920, -94.248470
Inspired by the formidable "Sherlock in Sandyland" by the Jeep Girls -- and with plenty of elbow room left along the far reaches of the Sandyland Sanctuary trail system -- we decided to put out another multicache in the area.
Count on five or six miles of hiking roundtrip. You'll pass above floodplains, through mixed hardwood forests, along the shores of isolated pond systems, and atop the pine-shrouded sandhills that give the sanctuary its name.
Bring along the usual suspects: bug spray, hiking stick, drinking water, extra batteries -- and a flashlight if you get started too late. If you haven't yet enjoyed "Sherlock in Sandyland" you can do so on the way in; allow an extra hour or two.
The first two stages are 35mm film cans, not camouflaged but well-hidden. Each holds the coordinates to the following stage.
The third and final stage is a one-gallon Rubbermaid. Please replace the container as you find it; the hiding spot should present as much of a challenge as the hike.

Seaman's Memorial Sundial, erected by the City of Port Arthur, commemorates the 31 brave crew members of the Texaco Oklahoma who lost their lives at sea on March 28, 1971. The large polar equatorial dial, built of granite with a steel gnomen shaft, represents one of only nine permanent sundials in Texas.

This cache is located in the Roy E. Larsen Sandyland Sanctuary. It consists of a puzzle to figure out your first set of coordinates and then two micro finds to get the clues for your final destination. The final coordinates will lead you to a 50 cal. ammo box.
You may need Watson to help you find these clues. Take the first set of coordinates and prepare to sleuth! Be ready to hike a mile or maybe more, before you arrive and realize theres more!

*** CACHE IS NOT AT THE LISTED COORDINATES ***
Get ready for an adventure in the rain. Although you can reach this one in any weather, it would be perfect for a rainy day. And here in Southeast Texas, a rainy day is never far away.
At the listed coordinates you will find a whimsical sculpture. If you have kids you’ll certainly want them along to join in the fun, but please do not allow them to climb on or around the sculpture itself.
To deduce the actual location of the cache container, you will need to study the sculpture to determine the values of the following variables:
A = The number of boys on the sculpture
B = Total number of children minus the number of water hoses
C = The number of boys plus the number of children wearing hats
D = The number of insects
E = The number of umbrellas
F = The number of girls minus the number of children sitting on the log minus the number of water hoses

Steel Wheel Tractor by Chance Encounter and BizzyB
Location: 29.990330, -94.213870
We recently came across an antique steel wheel marsh tractor while out caching, and BizzyB later returned to claim it as a locationless find. These tractors, sporting large, narrow wheels both front and back, were commonly used in rice fields and other marshy areas.
If you've done locationless caches yourself, you probably know that each location can only be logged by a single cacher. We thought this was wasting a perfectly good tractor, so we decided to place a physical cache at the site so others can log a smiley face as well.

This is a Baygall cache you can actually get to!
Rottman78 and I went to tackle the formidable Baygall cache by Mudfrog on February 26th, 2005. Much to our chagrin, the Baygall tackled us! The closest we managed to get to the first stage was .41 of a mile. An earlier try last year had placed us within .1 of a mile from it. There was no way to reach the cache without a canoe to paddle down the road (which would probably get swept into the woods by the fast-moving water that flowed thigh-deep across the road) or a specialized Mudfroggian mud buggy. So we turned around, headed out, and got stuck in a section of muddy road we traversed with ease earlier. We tried to get it unstuck for a while, succeeding only in sinking the truck until the frame was resting on the muddy bottom. Luckily, help was just a phone call and 5 minutes away. Wojmack came and pulled us out with his 4x4 Nissan. After he left, we decided to place a Baygall cache to commemorate the adventure, one you could actually get to without a m

Here's a simple one stage cache with coordinates above that will take you straight to it. Wait, i better rephrase that. It's a simple one stage cache allright, but the road you use to get to it can be a booger at times. Due to recent rains, the water was about two feet deep in some places on the day we hid the cache. Didnt need 4wd as the bottom seemed hard but the high ground clearance definitely helped on today's trek. Im giving this one a higher terrain difficulty rating because of this but normally the road will be passable by most vehicles.
A variety of items, including a Travelbug, inhabit the cache at this time so bring your trades if you want. Dont forget to sign the logbook and log you find here at Geocaching.com too. Goodluck!

The Dancing Men by Chance Encounter
Location: 30.080150, -94.099520
***CACHE IS NOT AT THE LISTED COORDINATES ***
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle originally published The Adventure of the Dancing Men in Strand Magazine in 1903. Although Doyle's famous protaganist Sherlock Holmes eventually decrypted the mysterious hieroglyphics, he could not prevent one life from being lost and two more from being ruined. The code itself remains in use to this day in secret communications amongst members of the Sherlock Holmes Society and other Sherlockians.
In order to locate The Dancing Men, you will need to make sense of the strange symbols below. The code is similar to Doyle's creation, but differs in some key areas as well. You'll be looking for a log-only micro, so bring your own pen. Happy sleuthing!

The Story.
Our mission, Doc Gilbo and Chance Encounter, was to go in at Baby Galvez and go up-river 3 miles to Hwy 327. After putting in at Baby Galvez We were making slow but steady progress on our mission to place caches all the way up to Hwy 327. But the current became more swift the further up-river we went, soon, our boat became crippled as we fought our way upstream against the swift current using only paddles and a worn-out trolling motor.
We were hoping to make it around a peninsula that lay ahead on our left believing maybe the current would be less relentless if could make it around it.
We were able to make slow progress against the current until we were about 200 yards down river from the tip of the peninsula, at that point all progress was halted as we were only able to maintain a stationary position in the water, hovering in one place as if an

The Tar Pits by Chance Encounter
Location: 30.034480, -94.055880
Many who completed my Quickie Cache series found themselves disappointed when they failed to see the tar pits near the Quickie Cache Bonus. To remedy the situation, I have placed a new cache just on the edge of the pits.
Unlike similar naturally-occuring pits -- like the famous La Brea Tar Pits in California -- those near Beaumont result from human activity. This particular site is situated along the far edges of the original Spindletop Oil Field. Although the wells ran "dry" and the rigs were removed decades ago, oil continues to seep to the surface, where it coagulates into tar.
You'll notice that the surface is semi-firm close to the levee, but further out in the clearing the sunshine often melts it into a gooey sludge. Do not venture beyond the cache or you may find your boots looking like mine:
Your best bet for parking is at the nearby Humane Society (coordinates below). Once you find your way to the tar pits, you'll be looking for a small, camouflaged Lock&Lock holding a few small trade i

Well, there is the itsy-bitsy, teenie-weenie problem of reaching the cache site. It lies within the boundaries of the Roy E. Larsen Sandyland Sanctuary, so you'll have some well-defined trails. So well-defined, in fact, that you won't even notice the round trip distance of approximately seven miles to Alligator Grass Pond and back. The fascinating scenery should take your mind completely off the distance. And the alligators. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes or hiking boots, and bring plenty of water.
We highly suggest that you park at the Sandyland Sanctuary trailhead along Highway 327, just east of Village Creek, and then follow the trails north. Despite the temptations of your mapping software, any other approach will likely lead to some serious heartbreak.

Texas State Park Rangers state they have been having bad experiences with some geocachers, stating they tear-up the landscape and make trails leading to nowhere resulting in casual hikers to get lost on uncharted trails. but they said as long as we don't go off the trail very far, we can hide caches and have some fun.

There we were, minding our own business, preparing some micro containers, while watching a Little League game at Adams Park. Out of the blue, some young whippersnaper grabs one of our micros and tosses it out onto the playing field.
Sure enough, the young pitcher snatched the container, took the signal from the catcher, wound up, and delivered it right down the middle of the plate. The batter (a rather husky fellow) took aim and smacked it out towards right field. That's the last we saw of it.

Yet Another Riverfront Park by Chance Encounter
Location: 29.851480, -93.940720
We have another cache in a Riverfront Park -- quite a bit up the Neches from this one. Don't get the two confused.
We're still not sure why they named this one Riverfront Park; it's between a manmade ship channel and a saltwater lake, with nary a river in sight.
You'll be looking for an oversized pill bottle holding a travel bug, a few tiny trinkets, and a log scroll. If you'd like to trade think small.
