Biking 3/22/2000 cross country Las Curces to El Paso

a shorter more level ride using the Adventure Cycling route. Quiet and rural until after you get passed Sunland Park and into city traffic. Pretty good shoulder for most of the way

the route from La Mesilla (Las Cruces suburb) is lmostly level, quiet and rural  until Sunland park at around mile36.  Traffic picks  up and the road deteriorates as you turn on racetrack dr.  Gradual climbing until Crazy Cat Bicycles on Mesa Street at about mile 52.  Lots of traffic, but decent shoulder.  rest of the route takes you through downtown El Paso and out through the rail yards to Cesar Chavez loop373 E.  Decent shoulder but llots of on and off ramps and endless views of the border fence.
