We started our five day backpacking trip into the Superstition Wilderness from First Water Trailhead. We backpacked into Boulder Basin along Dutchmans Trail, and set up camp near the junctions of Black Mesa and Dutchmans Trails, not far from the large wash which runs through the basin. The weather the week before was pretty cold and wet, with snow around Flagstaff and heavy rain in the Superstitions (snow at the higher altitudes). We watched the weather over the weekend, and headed down Monday, the day before it was predicted to clear up so we could hit the trail first thing Tuesday morning. As a result, we had a stretch of perfect weather, with temperatures in high 50's, mostly sunny, and plentiful water in the washes after the rain and snow.
