The most visible trail to the mountain is an ATV trail which goes right atop the ridge. This means painful up and down hiking. But there are some trails which follow a more gradual ascent just below the ridge, and the views are almost as good. The trails are not marked and you need to pay attention to find them
Regardless, the trail is 9.5 miles roundtrip and takes 5 or 6 hours. There is not water, and in summer the Idaho desert is stifling -this is a trail for a cooler season. The views of the valley are very nice.
The last stretch to the top is very steep. Unfortunately, you see very little or Arrowrock reservoir from the top because the summit is a ways out.
There is a tricky jeep trail which goes right to the top.
TO TRAILHEAD: From ID 84,take Blacks Creek road to the north. 6 miles to an intersection, take the left. At 4.7 miles there is a major trailhead. 0.3 miles further there is a small parking area on the left. The trail goes uphill from there.
