Popular loop on 9.1-mi of moderate Forest Service trails. Great views of Weavers Needle and camping options around halfway in Boulder Basin. TO TRAILHEAD: From Apache Trail (Hwy 88) go approximately 6 miles E of Apache Junction, approximately a 1/4 mile past the Lost Dutchman State Park entrance. Turn R at the sign for the First Water Trailhead (FS 78). Any easy 2-1/2 mile dirt road leads to trailhead parking with newer pit toilets. Forest Service day use fee ($4 per vehicle per day in spring 2006).
