A 6 mile round trip hike down bright angel trail at the south rim. We wanted to make it down to Indian Gardens but we got a late start and only made it to 3 mile house before turning back.
Also I messed up and didnt turn the tracking on during the hike down, so this trip starts from the bottom.

1.5 Mile Resthouse
Location: 36.060490°, -112.138901°
Stopped here to refill water and eat an apple. Lots of very "friendly" squirrels here. In a failed effort to "keep wild animals wild," I slapped one on the side of the head after he came right up to us and tried to steal an apple out MB's hand.
3 Mile Resthouse
Location: 36.066109°, -112.135757°
This is as far down as we went. Unfortunately we got a late start on the day and we didn't think we would have enough time to make the last leg all down to Indian Gardens :(
A long way up
Location: 36.066071°, -112.135735°
This is the trail back up, from the bottom. Looks like quite the hike.
Almost done
Location: 36.057999°, -112.146545°
MB and I take a minute to shoot one last picture before the end of the trail.
At the top
Location: 36.057053°, -112.140450°

Big Horn Sheep
Location: 36.061172°, -112.139511°
MB spotted this guy standing majestically on a ridge while we were taking a water break on the way up.
Big Horn Sheep
Location: 36.061005°, -112.139008°
MB spotted this guy posing up on a ridge. He ran away after a few minutes, and when we walked around the corner he was standing right in front of us on the trail. Very cool.
Bright Angel Lodge
Location: 36.057106°, -112.137489°
A good place for a beer or two after the hike.
Bus Stop
Location: 36.052128°, -112.122536°
Camp
Location: 36.048813°, -112.120712°
Our capsite at mather point. The weather was beautiful so we didn't even pitch the tent.
Closer to the garden
Location: 36.062679°, -112.139862°
Closer to the bottom but still a long way up.
Get out of the way
Location: 36.060917°, -112.139214°
We thought we'd seen the last of the Big Horn when he ran to the other side of the ridge, but we turned the corner and he was standing there staring us down.
Good view

Me

This is me on the way down, just into the dusty Supai Group layers.
Over the edge

MB looking over the edge of a cliff behind the 3 mile house.
Past the Big Horn
Location: 36.060753°, -112.139076°
He jumped up to the top of the ridge again and stared us down as we walked right below him on the trail.
Photo-op
Location: 36.057976°, -112.146523°
Stop and take a few more pictures before we leave.
Squirrel
Location: 36.060547°, -112.138847°
The squirrels are not afraid of people, and they swarm around the rest house areas looking for scraps.
Stone wall
Location: 36.062244°, -112.141785°
A little stone wall built along the path. The rest of the canyon in the background is magnificent.
The end in sight!
Location: 36.057526°, -112.144577°
We can around one of the final turns and saw the rock archway that leads to the trailhead. Almost there!
The phone pose
Location: 36.057983°, -112.146523°
Consulting my trusty i860 in front of a gorgeous canyon view in the late afternoon.
Waterfall
Location: 36.061710°, -112.141769°
Well I'm sure its a waterfall when there is water. But still a very cool formation even while dry.
